"Jack really wanted this baby," Sam blurted. She worried about him, and she couldn't get it together enough to be there for him. "He was so excited... he was convinced we were having a boy." It was like he was getting another chance at being a father again, and he just had that yanked out from under him, just out of the blue.

Sam hadn't been that excited, not until the last couple of weeks. She wasn't sure how she was supposed to feel about that, or about what had happened--she hadn't wanted it to go down like this, whatever her feelings had been--but Jack had wanted this baby from the first minute.
