"For you, too," Jack adds. "You don't look good, Carter. I mean, you're holding it in pretty good but I know you and I know you've probably got to be stressed. It'll be good to be a little less...you know. Frazzled and stuff. If me being here can help that, I'm all for it."

It's not quite what he wants to say but it's part of it. He hopes Carter can read him as well as his version back home always could.
