[TR] For Sam

It was hard to find places to go on dates on a deserted island and Jack was well aware it always required a lot of creativity. This morning, he woke up early and made the trek for coffee, bringing back two mugs (he drank his own in the compound kitchen) for Sam to have when she woke up. He put those close by before kneeling on the bed to kiss her awake. He always loved Sam when she first woke up in the morning and she was still hazy from sleep; Sam, in those moments, wasn't a soldier anymore. She was just Sam and had a sweetness he didn't think she could let herself have when fully aware and alert.

"Wake up. We've got plans today."

Sam didn't want to think about the disappearing part, because if she thought about it too closely, she would have to entertain the possibility that she or Jack could go too, so she didn't.

"Only talking about good things today," she murmured against his ear. "Taking a vacation from everything else."

"I think we can pick a date," she said, and surprisingly she didn't feel as panicked about that as she thought she might. Picking a date--yes. She could do that.

"After your birthday?"

She thought about it for a minute, considering, and then nodded. "December," she agreed. Once she said that, she felt a huge sense of relief simply to have made some kind of decision, to commit to a date, even if it was just deciding what month.

"I'm pretty lucky myself," she said happily, tilting her head a little so he could kiss more of her neck.

Then she straightened a little, looking at him, and her hand that had been trailing in the water came up to cup his jaw. "We're lucky we have this chance," she said softly. She didn't think of it often, but sometimes she still remembered the way he'd looked, bleeding out on the floor of the Tok'ra pyramid, and she was reminded just how lucky they were to have this.

"You make it easier not to worry," she said, and kissed him, sweet and tender and feeling like she could do it all day.

After a minute, her mouth left his, working her way along his jaw. "Jack," she breathed against his skin. Her legs tightened around him a little, changing the angle of her pelvis just enough to make her meaning clear. "Let's go back on shore."

"Jack O'Neill," she said, with a teasing grin. "Of course I mean back to the shore. I mean, you went to all the trouble to pack lunch and everything..."

She slid off of him, and they sloshed the rest of the way through the waves holding hands. "I brought towels," she said brightly, and then elbowed him, laughing. "We'll have lunch and go home." She was pretty sure she could talk him into a little kissing on the beach, at least. It was so nice out, with the sun and the breeze and their shaded picnic spot...
