Carter had told him about the pregnancy and Jack had sat on it, which was not normal. Normally, in a perfect world where Carter was happy about being pregnant, he would have been telling anyone and everyone who would stop to listen. But she wasn't, and she wasn't even really speaking to him so Jack had sat on it.

He had to tell someone though and there was only one person he really thought was appropriate: Daniel. Carter might be upset with him but ultimately, she'd understand if he needed to tell Daniel. It wasn't like he was telling someone who didn't care about both of them, after all.

Mind made up, Jack walked the little ways to Daniel's hut, rapping lightly against the door.

"Daniel? You home?"

"Eh, well," Jack said, trying to figure out the best way to put it. "Sam's...not so sure about having a baby out here. So many people have disappeared, left their partners behind...I think she's scared. We fought and I haven't told anyone about it."

"I can kind of understand that. I know someone who vanished and took her son with her." He closed his eyes for a brief moment, thinking of Jackson and thinking of Owen. He didn't regret what he had with Vala. He didn't regret it by any means, but he did regret not knowing what might have happened with Owen.

He smiled. "Still. Congratulations."
