"I know. I didn't mean it like that." Sam was quiet again after that. She didn't know what to say that didn't sound like she wanted to fight with him--and she didn't want to fight. She just wanted to forget about this for a while, until she could sort out her feelings about it.

By the time they reached the beach, Sam could see the meteor shower very clearly, and she stood there for a minute, watching. "This spot okay?" she asked, taking her eyes away from the shower for a minute to look at him.
