Jack hadn't fought with Sam very often and while he thought they were probably on good terms again, this was the longest they'd gone without you know since they'd finally, officially hooked up.
Maybe that was a stupid thing to be worried about but Jack had worried. He wasn't so good at the talking thing, especially when it came to his feelings, and it was a lot easier and a lot more genuine to express his love and admiration in a caress down Sam's neck and shoulder or a kiss that went on so long that he saw stars.
She was over in her "office" again and Jack rapped lightly at the door frame, giving her what he hoped was a charming grin.
"You busy, Sam?"

And talk, but he didn't add that part aloud.

He'd always been kind of a nerd when it came to astronomy, if nothing else.
"Thought you'd never forgive me if I didn't tell you about it and let you work straight through."

Even though she didn't really need an excuse to spend time with Jack, she was glad the meteor shower kind of gave her one; she knew she'd been distant ever since she found out she was pregnant, and she didn't want Jack to think she was having second thoughts about him even though she still wasn't happy about recent developments.

Jack loved people and most of the people on the island were friendly and easygoing, just his kind, but he sort of wanted the opportunity to be alone with Sam. It didn't happen as often as he wanted.

It was a good walk from New Atlantis to the northern beach. Sam had the blankets folded under one arm, and after a little while, she reached out her free hand to take Jack's while they walked.

Jack had never really been very good at being subtle and usually, well, it was kind of a good thing. He'd always been blunt and to the point and he (thought) it made him a good leader. Not necessarily a good thing in his personal life though.
"You know. Things."
Damn. He was bad at this.

Sam was used to considering herself pretty strong and capable. And there was something about the state of being pregnant that made her feel weak, and she didn't like that.

By the time they reached the beach, Sam could see the meteor shower very clearly, and she stood there for a minute, watching. "This spot okay?" she asked, taking her eyes away from the shower for a minute to look at him.

He busied himself with spreading out the blanket and that done, settled, tugging Sam into his arms to watch the shower.
"Love you, Carter. You know that, right?"

"I'm sorry about earlier."

"You were there for over three months," Sam added after a minute. "We didn't think there was any way we were going to get you back inside of at least a year, but we did, and that...was the longest three months of my life."

"Jack," she said softly, and then her voice caught. She found it so hard to talk to him lately, either because she thought she would start an argument or because she just didn't know what to say.
