Jack hadn't fought with Sam very often and while he thought they were probably on good terms again, this was the longest they'd gone without you know since they'd finally, officially hooked up.

Maybe that was a stupid thing to be worried about but Jack had worried. He wasn't so good at the talking thing, especially when it came to his feelings, and it was a lot easier and a lot more genuine to express his love and admiration in a caress down Sam's neck and shoulder or a kiss that went on so long that he saw stars.

She was over in her "office" again and Jack rapped lightly at the door frame, giving her what he hoped was a charming grin.

"You busy, Sam?"

Sam wasn't really sure if he was being like that on purpose to amuse her, or if that was just the way things came out when he was trying to seduce her, but either way, it made her grin. "Oh, really?" she said, as if she had never noticed how much he enjoyed that particular part of her anatomy.

"Before here? No, not really," she said. "Maybe a little look here or there, but you never--I told you, you never made anything obvious." He'd never made her feel pushed into anything, and while that had been frustrating later, when she'd known very clearly what she felt for him, she'd always appreciated his respect for her position.

"I never worried," she told him. "I never worried, not about that, and I always, always trusted you. And I still do."

She stopped walking for a minute, still holding his hand, looking at his face dimly lit by the moonlight and the small lights here and there that illuminated the path. "You're the most important person in my life," she said quietly. "And have been for a long time."
