house building (for Sam)

Jack's glad the kids are up at the Children's Office today because while he loves them, he doesn't want them getting hurt while he's building and he thinks Carter's probably got the same idea. Considering he recently broke his thumb right by himself, there's no way he wants to risk hurting one of the kids on sheer accident.

The frame is up and has been for a while but today they're working on walls and Carter's along to figure out how she wants to run power and plumbing (and, let's face it, to also help with walls because she can hold her own and then some.) While Jack thinks he knows a little something about that, he's no engineer, and it's best to just leave it to her and make sure it's Done Right.

They have a pitcher of water they've been sharing, since it's just plain hot out on the island and Jack pauses for a minute to get something to drink, glancing over at Carter once he's slaked his thirst.

"How's it coming so far?"

It's a command he doesn't mind taking and once Carter touches him, he relaxes into the bed and lets out a little sigh.

"I could get used to this, you know."

"Mmmhmm." She slides her hands up to the base of his neck and shoulders and uses a firmer touch, pressing the heels of her hands into the muscle there. There's some tension there, so she lingers for a little while, spreading very gradually outward as she works.

"Goddess among women," Jack praises, relaxing even more. As much as it's for his backache it's also so that he can just be touched because he hates asking for it even if it's what he wants and he's reasonably sure that Carter doesn't mind it.

"Ha," Sam says. She's a scientist, not a goddess. (They've seen too many fake deities in their line of work.) She could probably be quick and efficient about this and it would be just as effective, but she's taking her time, because she likes just being able to touch him. It's relaxing. She presses her thumbs on either side of his spine and works her way down a bit at a time until she gets to a spot with significantly more tension, and she leans a little of her weight into her arms to apply more pressure.

Jack lets out a low groan. It hurts, yes, but more than that it feels good just to have Carter touch him and take her sweet time about it. He hopes that eventually they'll get to a point where he's more comfortable with this and them and they can...let things just take the natural course.

"God, that's good. Been a long time since anyone worked this thing out."

Sam presses a little more firmly, working the muscles until she feels them start to relax under her hands. "It could be a regular thing," she says. "When you're tired or... whatever." It isn't meant to be sultry, but she's talking quietly (both because the kids are asleep and the walls are thin, but also because this is supposed to be relaxing) but it sort of comes out sounding like she made a half-assed attempt to be seductive and she's caught between embarrassment and trying not to laugh at herself.

"What if I was uh...whatever right now?" Jack asks, testing the waters a bit. They never really talk about it but there's also very little opportunity to talk about it, considering the kids.

"Well, you know," she says, still smoothing and pressing her hands along his lower back. "That could probably be accommodated." She usually feels awkward about talking about this kind of thing instead of just letting it happen, but they've sort of been tapdancing anyway so...

"Probably, huh? That's better than expected," Jack says, grinning into the pillow. He wonders if Carter can hear how excited he is and figures if she can, hopefully she's not offended.

"That'd be...fantastic."

"Mhmm." She slides her hands up his back and neck and lets her fingers slip into his hair. "Just, you know. See what happens." Her fingers curl into his hair for a moment and then she leans down to kiss the back of his neck. It's soft and really just a brush of her lips across his skin, but she does linger for a second, breating in the scent of his skin.

"I like where this is going," Jack mumbles against the pillow, letting out a low groan when Carter's lips touch his skin. He wants, well, a hell of a lot more than this but he thinks going slow has probably been good for all parties involved.

"Big fan of going with the flow and seeing what happens. You know. Flexible. I love being flexible."

"Uh huh," she whispers against his skin. "Turn over," she adds. "Unless you've been too spoiled by this back rub and you can't move." She gives him a little nudge, brushing her fingers against his arm.

"I can do that," Jack says and it's easier said than done. He is pretty relaxed from having his back rubbed and it's been a long day but he manages to roll over for her.

"Hi."

When Jack turns over, Sam slides her leg over and straddles him. "Hi," she says, and lightly drags her fingers along his chest. "Feeling better?"

"Well, yeah," Jack murmurs, sliding his hands up to cup her hips. He's not sure what's gotten into Carter tonight but he likes it and wants it to continue.

"I think the uh...the weight is help pulling out the tension. So if you could just keep sitting there?"

Sam raises an eyebrow, though she's sure it's not at all as effective as when Teal'c did it. "Weight, huh?" She presses her hips down and shifts just a little and a delicious shiver runs up her spine at the bit of friction.

"Oh, yup, yeah, that's it," Jack murmurs. Carter looks damn good up there with her messy hair and barely wearing anything at all and he wonders how he got so lucky that she'll put up with him when she's her.

He smooths his hands up her thighs. "Love you, Carter."

"Love you," she says, smiling down at him. It's been the best day, full of productive work and a huge milestone for their daughter and she feels like everything's just right. She leans down and kisses him, tender and sweet and with a little contented sigh.

"So, do you think I could interest you in more of that?" Jack doesn't know why he's shy about asking Carter for affection but sometimes he is. He suspects it's because the last thing he wants is to screw things up and with the kids involved, he's just a lot more careful with her.

"I mean, you know. I've got a kissing drought going on over here."

"Maaybe." She draws out the word, soft against his mouth, then kisses him again. It's just as sweet as before but there's a little more to it, too, as she stretches her body out against his. She wants him. Not that that's a secret, or that she ever hasn't, but she finally feels comfortable with allowing herself to want him again, and that's something new.

Just maybe?" Jack hasn't always felt comfortable with being this flirty with Carter and he is testing the waters as much as she seems to be.

"You know I want you, right?"

Sam nods. The movement brushes her lips against his and she keeps close, nuzzling against his cheek and jaw. "Feeling's mutual."

"Think we can manage it?" Jack isn't sure how comfortable Carter is with that. There's a lot of factors to consider: the kids, their own baggage, just how small and cramped this place is. Jack's been thinking he wants to wait until the house is built but, as always, he's on her time-table and not his.

"I'm uh, obviously interested."

"I just want to be with you," she says. They've been holding back somewhat, maybe being overly cautious, since there's a lot at stake if they screw this up...but maybe they can be just a little less cautious. She misses him, she misses being with him, and though they spend most of their time together, she still feels lonely. "However that works out."

"I'm thinking it works out with your shirt on the floor?" Jack asks hopefully, wondering if she'll bite. They've fooled around some since the first time on Valentine's Day but it's never planned and it's always incredibly cautious and careful. Too much at risk. But today, he feels a lot more secure than he has in a while and he's getting that feeling from Carter too.

"You know how I like the view and all."
