Sam gave him a long, thoughtful look. She wasn't sure if he was actively trying to dissuade her from her work now, or if he was just telling her how he felt... she supposed this depended on whether he was really Jack or not. Sam hated that she even had to wonder, but after her experience with Fifth, she couldn't help it.

"If you know me," she said carefully, "then you know why I'm working so hard on this." Her voice was quiet, as it didn't need to be anything but; he was right there.
